CHIME School   An elementary school in Yunnan, built with fund donated by Chinese Microsoft Employees, through China Tomorrow Education Fund.

Incredible India   Incredible country, incredible people, incredible colors.

Vancouver   One weekend at Vancouver.

Sin City   What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. This includes the fortune you brought into Vegas.

A Rainbow From My Balcony   On an ordinary Seattle afternoon, after an ordinary Seattle shower, I walked on to my balcony for an ordinary breath. An extrordinary raindow stretched in front of me.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby

Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true

Maui, Hawaii

Florida   Sunshine state, where birds fly to in winter; so do tourists.

Olympic Coast   The coast of Pacific. On the other side of the ocean, there's a place called home.

Palouse, One Year Later   Driving up to a big butte, you would get a 360 view into the miles and miles of gentle, low rolling hills around you. On 7/4 night, you would see fireworks far below from scattered farmers' houses and small towns. You would see fireworks shoot up from the distance only to disappear in the dark like a dream. Last year, I didn't see it with my own eyes -- I came down the butte to hunt for a motel after the sunset! A man who stayed in his jeep overnight on the butte described the scene to me next morning when we met again on the butte for the sunrise.

One year later, exactly the same day, I drove five hours to Palouse again, struggled one hour setting up the tent in the blowing wind, packed up a can of beer and sat on top of the butte for another three hours. I watched the sun set into the infinite. I watched the dark fall upon below my butte. I watched the fireworks far below from scattered farmers' houses and small towns. I watched the fireworks shoot up from the distance only to disappear in the dark like a dream. I watched the miles and miles of stars flow around my butte. I watched the miles and miles of loneliness flow around my butte.

Fall In Northwest   Who says you need to cross the country to New England to see the magnificent golden foliage, we have it right here in Northwest; who says you need to drive hours to see the Autumn leaves, we have it right here at Redmond. As Jay Maisel goes, "It's not about going to new places; it's about seeing with new eyes."

Olympic Peninsula   On any clear day, you can easily see Mt. Olympus from 40 miles away in Seattle. Olympic is as diverse and wild as it can be, beaches, rainforests, waterfalls, lakes, high mountains, and nice little towns. My favorite get-away place.

A Paradise Called The Palouse   There is such a place, where local people still practice contour plowing on the endless, gentle, rolling hills. Driving up and down the rolling wheat fields, you see white houses and red barns suddenly pop out of nowhere, only to disappear when you turn your head. Climbing up to the top of the butte, the vast, almost treeless farmlands flow around you like ocean waves.

20 Years ago, it was featured in a National Geographic's story, A Paradise Called the Palouse.

The place, is called Palouse (French for lawn) Country, about 300 miles east of Seattle, expanding 4000 square miles across southeastern Washington and northern Idaho.

Pacific Coast   Trip along the Pacific Coast from Seattle to San Francisco. Highway 101 is also called the Sunset Highway.

If you're going to San Francisco
Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
If you're going to San Francisco
You're gonna meet some gentle people there

For those who come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there
In the streets of San Francisco
Gentle people with flowers in their hair

Columbia River   Eagle Creek, Columbia River Gorge, Oregon. This is where Columbia River meets Pacific Ocean.

Around Seattle   I believe good pictures tell stories.

Tulip, Tulip, Tulip   Skagit Valley, Washington. 60 miles north of downtown Seattle. Farmers grow tulips and hold Tulip Festival every Spring. Get there before dawn; otherwise, you'll find more people than flowers in the field.

Fall In New England   2001 is a year those who happened to be in Manhattan on that early September morning will never forget. Having not touched camera for years since I first learned aperture and shutter speed, I suddenly realized life is indeed short and fragile. On a late September Sunday afternoon, I walked into B&H in midtown Manhattan, picked up a set of Nikon equipments and re-picked up the long-lost hobby. This is something I had always wanted to do but had always put it aside for many other things in life. Glad I finally did it.
